Case Study: Arden Residence Primary Bath

The Arden Residence came to us with a specific brief: the clients wanted a primary bathroom that felt like a private spa in a five-star hotel. They had travelled extensively and had strong opinions about what worked and what did not.
The existing bathroom was a 1990s renovation: a jacuzzi tub, a separate shower enclosure with a metal frame, and vanity cabinets that had seen better days. The room was spacious — 12 by 14 feet — but the layout was inefficient.
We proposed a complete reconfiguration. The jacuzzi tub was removed. In its place, a 72-inch freestanding soaking tub was positioned beneath a newly created skylight. The shower was expanded to 5 by 7 feet, with a zero-entry threshold, a ceiling-mounted rain head, and a hand shower on a sliding bar.
For materials, we chose honed travertine for the floors (warm, slip-resistant, naturally antibacterial) and large-format porcelain slabs for the shower walls. The vanity was built in walnut with a white marble countertop. All hardware was unlacquered brass.
The project took 5 months from demolition to completion. The clients' favourite detail? The towel warmer positioned exactly where they step out of the shower.
